Arevalo de Leon managed to reach the second round after unexpectedly get second place in the elections on June 25, behind former first lady Sandra Torres and polls placed him in seventh or eighth place.

The official filing of the results by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal was delayed after the Constitutional Court, the Central American country’s highest court, ruled on July 1 new edition of election protocolswhich took place from 4 to 6 July.

The electoral process in Guatemala was widely celebrated on the eve of the elections suspension of three candidates with the possibility of winning the election presidential.
