General Atomics has introduced an upgrade kit for the base version of the MQ-9. The upgraded short-haul take-off and landing aircraft can be part of the wing of large landing craft and aircraft carriers.
The UAV upgrade kit includes a folding wing and a new tail tail. New components can be installed in a day.
The MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance aircraft made its maiden flight in 2001. The UAV received a radar station with a synthesized aperture, an aiming station and six gun suspension points. The MQ-9 can carry air-to-ground bombs and missiles.
