NTT Ltd. Together with Cisco and i-‑CITY, the City of Brussels IT service laid the technological foundations to centralize citizen services in a single building and transform the way around 1,850 employees work. Flow from the partnership Collaboration and networking solutions for Brucity, the brand new administrative center of the city of Brussels, optimizing services for both employees and citizens of Brussels.

The Brucity project is more than just technical advances. It changes the way the city of Brussels offers products and services to citizens, optimizes the working environment and strengthens the possibilities for collaboration and counting. This is exactly why i-CITY turned to NTT, which won the public tender in 2020.

During the project, NTT Ltd. fulfilled two tasks: to provide a network tailored to the new building and to support i-CITY in the day-to-day management of this network. This computer network is based on Cisco’s Digital Network Architecture (DNA), which manages networks through security, automation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

With these capabilities, Brucity’s new network has a level of security with an identity services engine (ISE) management system, automated provisioning and management processes, and streamlined services for employees connecting to the network. NTT Ltd. was also responsible for the project management of this major project. On the one hand, this included managed services and daily support for i-CITY’s network management.

And on the other hand, the integration of all supporting elements of the building such as cable ducts, elevators and video conferencing system into the network design, so that everything is connected and easy collaboration is possible.

Cooperation as a success factor

The cooperation between the three partners i-CITY, Cisco and NTT Ltd. played an important role in the Brucity project. This enabled the project to be completed on schedule despite supply bottlenecks due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine

The Brucity project demonstrates the power of collaboration and technological innovation. Thanks to the joint efforts of i-CITY, NTT Ltd. and Cisco ushers in a new era of efficiency, connectivity and enhanced services for the city of Brussels. Brucity is a major milestone on the city’s journey to a smarter and more integrated future.
