There are plans to build four Dreadnought submarines in the UK. The first submarine will join the fleet in the 2030s. The new ships were designed to deter “extreme threats”.
The British Ministry of Defense said that the new submarines will be one of the most complex machines. Each ship has 20,000 cables with a total length of more than 300 kilometers.
Dreadnought-class submarines will replace Vangurd-type submarines. The new submarines will receive four torpedoes along with Spearfish torpedoes. In addition, each Dreadnought-type ship will receive 12 UGM-133 Trident II (D5) ballistic missile launchers.
