From its launch until yesterday, Bing had the big advantage that its main rival Bard had a rather limited geographical availability. It is true that since May this situation has eased considerably, but only yesterday, when it was finally deployed in the European Union and other territories, in this sense, both services compete on practically the same termsalthough it is true that Bard still cannot be employed in Canada.

You may have thought that with this comparison I forgot ChatGPT, which was also the predecessor of this type of service. However, We must not forget that OpenAI is heavily owned by Microsoft, so although both services aspire to attract the same users, deep down there is an important relationship between the two, to the point that even OpenAI has started testing (although it had to disable it for technical reasons) integrating search functions from Bing into ChatGPT. So you can say they are rivals… but ultimately not that much.

That, the big (and very interesting) confrontation is the one we will witness between Google and Microsoft chatbots, as both technology companies are very well aware of the importance of these services. In other words, we are in for a time when AI enthusiasts will enjoy us a lot, and regular Bing and Bard users (we) will benefit greatly from this competition, as it will undoubtedly translate into continuous improvement.

And it’s about the improvements that we’re going to talk about, because according to what we can read in MSPowerUser, Interesting news is coming to Bing and although there are still no concrete dates for them, there are indications that the wait will not be too long. Specifically, the article talks about pinning conversations, listening to voice responses without a voice input, categorizing chat history, as well as the ability to hide history for using the chatbot in full-screen mode.

All of these news are undoubtedly improvements that will ensure an optimal user experience. However, I couldn’t help but notice that they are all found exactly in Bard’s update that happened yesterdayand about which we will inform you immediately. And the point is that, as we have already told you, it did not limit itself to expanding its geographical reach, but added these very features, among others.

Does this mean Microsoft is copying Google? First, not necessarily, as Bard’s dedicated engineers were likely already working on these features before yesterday’s announcement. But I’m going further, in case that was the case, that is, if Microsoft decided to add these features to Bing after seeing them in Bard, that seems positive to me, and I will think exactly the same when I see moves in the opposite direction. And so it is that, as I said earlier, this competition to acquire users involves offering the best service possible, even if that sometimes means replicating the successes of a rival.
