Mobile users who often use emoji to communicate with friends via text messages will enjoy. This is because the major library update will add more than 100 new emoji for both iOS 17 and Android 14, which will meet the needs of users of the two major operating systems in the market.

Among the new emoji that have already been announced are a series of diverse expressions and objects, including a head saying “no” moving horizontally, one saying “yes” moving vertically, a file, a phoenix, a mushroom, a broken chain, and four gender-neutral family emojis.

In addition, there will be many illustrations of people in different situations, such as in a motorized wheelchair, with manual control, with a cane, on their knees, while walking, etc. It is worth noting that while new emoji are expected to be released, the final design is not yet defined.

Emoticons may be different for Android and iOS.

Manufacturers are free to customize the emoji according to their preferences, which means that the emoji may vary slightly between different brands and platforms. This is already happening usually for those who are used to both Android and iOS phones.

Also, some of the new emoji will be created by combining two existing ones. For example, a lemon emoji will be created by combining a lemon with green, and a phoenix bird will be created by combining fire with a bird to give the emoji more authenticity.

Following final approval expected in September, the new emoji will be developed for use on iOS and Android. However, they will not be released immediately. It is likely that they will get to smartphones in a software update that will be released at the end of the year or the beginning of next.
