At least eight German state and federal law enforcement agencies will hold exercises in late September to rehearse actions in response to a large-scale cyberattack on authorities.

The BBK spokesperson said that the exact scenario of the Luxex 23 exercise, which will start on 27 September and will last for two days, has not been disclosed to the public in order not to jeopardize its impact. The trainings were scheduled for 2020, but were postponed to 2022 due to the pandemic, and then to 2023 due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The reason given was that the personnel responsible for resolving crisis situations were too busy solving existing problems, making it difficult to prepare for the drills.
The training will cover the states of Brandenburg, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Lower Saxony and Thuringia. Participants at the federal level include the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bundesbank, the Federal Office of Information Security and the National Cyber ​​Protection Center and the Regional Command and the Bundeswehr on Cyber. and the Knowledge Area Command.
