Some time ago, Google made it very accessible to search for images of the exact size: in the drop-down menu, where the most common sizes were listed, there was a box where the user could enter the desired size. So easy. But for some reason, this possibility disappeared from view.
Currently, when you search for images on Google, you have the option to filter the results by size, via “Tools > Size” menu.. However, the options available are as imprecise as “any size, large, medium, icons«. Understandably they did it this way for simplicity, but for those looking for images of a more or less defined size…
And not only that: previously, when the results appeared in image search, the size in pixels was displayed at the bottom of each one, which no longer works like this. Now you have to press and hold the cursor over each image to see it. Why would Google remove so many features from one of its flagship tools?
Be that as it may, the search engine still allows us to use “search operators” and thanks to them we can restore the lost functionality, even if we have to do things manually.
A quick but unreliable way to search for images by size is obvious, enter the dimensions of the image along with the search term: “lion 1920×1080” (without quotes); but it’s not very reliable and to check the size of each image you’ll have to do what it says, go through each one to see if it matches what you wanted.
Fortunately, the search operators continue to work as usual, and searching for images by their exact size is as easy as using the one you touch, in this case «image size«. For example: “Lion image size: 1920×1080» (without quotes) and, voila…
