How to remove personal data from Google search results – Tips for Ukrainians

During the extensive Russian occupation of Ukraine, the issue of security of Ukrainian citizens, including the protection of their personal data, is acute.

This was reported in Telegram by the press service of the Office of the Ombudsman, Ukrinform reported.

“Google has updated its privacy policy, and as of today, users have more opportunities to remove personal information about themselves from search results. These updates are an important step forward and give users confidence to protect their personal security and privacy on the Internet, which is especially important in the current environment.” .

The right to delete personal data processed unlawfully is provided by the Ukrainian legislation and meets the European personal data protection standards, especially the GDPR, which is currently being implemented in our country’s legislation.

Google may remove personal information such as ID number or serial and passport number from search results; bank account numbers; credit card numbers; images of handwritten signatures; images of identity documents; personal, confidential and official records such as medical records; personal contact information (physical addresses, phone numbers and email addresses); confidential identification information.
