The public release of Windows Copilot is fast approaching. The Virtual Assistant for Windows is expected to roll out alongside the Windows 23H2 update.
Microsoft announced Windows Copilot, a better version of Cortana, in May. Bleeping Computer believes that Microsoft is about to release the version of Copilot for Windows to the general public. Windows Copilot could be part of the Windows 11 23H2 update announced last week.
Windows 11 23H2
The AI assistant gets a place in the Windows taskbar. Among other things, the preview version can activate dark mode and do not disturb. However, the “adult” version can do much more, e.g. B. Cut and paste or clarify and rewrite content for you. Copilot also integrates with other Microsoft and third-party applications, including Bing Chat, through plug-ins.
It’s not yet clear where Bleeping Computer got the information that Copilot will be introduced with the Windows 23H2 update, so we’re holding off. Although this timing would certainly not be illogical. Windows Copilot has been available through Microsoft’s preview channels since June. The software giant shared initial details on the upcoming Windows 11 23H2 update last week, although no new features were mentioned in that announcement.
And the other co-pilot?
In addition to Windows Copilot, Microsoft is also working on a Copilot for the 365 ecosystem. You can use it to create complete PowerPoint presentations and Word documents using simple text announcements, among other things. Whether we can expect this AI assistant soon is completely unclear. Microsoft has already published guidelines that every account must meet to get started with Copilot.
What seems certain is that Windows 10 users won’t have access to the Copilot fun. Microsoft no longer wants to roll out major feature updates for Windows 10. This is intended to spur the transition to Windows 11. However, the latest Windows 11 update does not invite you to switch.
