Lenovo has been throwing away new Thinkpad P workstations like gingerbread cookies for the past few months. The models announced in May are fresh from the print shop, or the next announcement is already available. Lenovo gives the same love to the second major manufacturer of laptop processors, because where it was Intel in May, now it’s AMD’s turn to be mentioned several times in this article.
Let’s start with the Thinkpad P16v: according to the manufacturer, a powerful workstation for designers who need more power to easily handle heavy workloads and multitasking. Lenovo launched a device of the same name with a thirteenth-generation Intel Core H processor back in May. Inside this laptop you’ll find an AMD Ryzen 9 Pro 7040 paired with the same Nvidia RTX 2000 Ada generation for better graphics and dual heatflow to keep the laptop cool.
The display features an 800-nit IPS panel with a range of display options, without going into detail in the announcement. The fact that there is little blue light is a mandatory note when it comes to screen technology these days. You can also look forward to the “latest chip-to-cloud security features”.
With these two models, Lenovo is targeting professionals looking for power and performance at a comfortable price point (which isn’t advertised). Just like the ThinkPad P16v, these models are a counterpart to the Intel model that we’ll see in May. Both devices are equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7040 processor, the graphics card also comes from AMD (Radeon 700M).
There is good news again for people with blue light phobia. Lenovo also installs a 5 MP webcam in the laptops. Hybrid workers can count on “a range of battery options” to support them on the go.
The ThinkPad P16v, P14s Gen 4 and P16s Gen 2 will be available in August. Prices are not yet known. We have requested more information from Lenovo and will update this article as soon as we receive more information.
