Nevada police searched a home outside of Las Vegas in connection with the murder of a hip-hop star in 1996. Tupac Shakurshot dead in the city almost three decades ago, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Tuesday.
No further information was provided about who owned the house or what prompted the police to search it.
In a press release, the agency said it “can confirm that a search warrant was issued on July 17, 2023 in Henderson, Nevada, as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Tupac Shakur.”
The police department, which has jurisdiction over the Henderson suburb where the search took place, declined to comment further.
Shakur was shot from a drive-by on September 7, 1996, and died in hospital six days later at the age of 25. No arrests were made in this case.
The award-winning rapper, activist and actor has been posthumously awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in June after selling over 75 million records worldwide. (Reuters)
