Yesterday saw the launch of the 16GB GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, a graphics card that retains all the specifications of the standard model, both in terms of shaders and bandwidth, meaning that the only difference between the two is the graphics memory configuration, which ranges from 8 GB to 16 GB.

This could be interesting if the price difference between the two wasn’t so big, as the 8GB GeForce RTX 4060 Ti can be bought from €399.95, while the 16 GB model has a minimum price €539.95. The difference between them is almost 140 euros, but the most important problem is not only the long distance, but the fact that the 16GB model it ends up practically stepping on its older sister GeForce RTX 4070.

At the time of writing, the cheapest GeForce RTX 4070 we can buy is the Palit Dual, which has a basic but perfectly functional finish and costs €599.95. The price difference between this and the 16GB GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is only 60 euros, and for this money we get a graphics card that is much more powerful.

Depending on the game, resolution and graphics settings used the difference in raw performance between two graphics cards can easily range from 25% to almost 50% in favor of the GeForce RTX 4070 and the price difference is only 60 euros, as I said, which corresponds 11.11% more.

The GeForce RTX 4070 has a most SM units and therefore has more shaders, more RT cores and more tensor cores. On the other hand, his bus is 192 bits, it better resists the increase in resolution and does not drop so much when reaching 4K, and thanks to 12 GB of graphics memory, we will not have problems playing any title with a guarantee.

Honestly, of all the models that NVIDIA has released in the GeForce RTX 40 generation, it’s clear to me that GeForce RTX 4070 is one of the most interesting, and the best option we can find today in the range of 550 to 600 euros. The 16GB GeForce RTX 4060 Ti doesn’t make sense right now at a price of €539.95.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti also represents a very big jump in terms of raw performance over the GeForce RTX 4070, and it would option to keep in mind to play in 1440p or 4K resolutionbut we are talking about a graphics card, the lowest price of which starts at approximately 850 euros, and which therefore clearly falls within the range that is beyond the reach of the average user.
