Automobile concern Tata Motors, owner of the Jaguar Land Rover brand, has announced that it plans to establish a factory in the UK for the production of batteries for electric cars.

As Ukrinform reports, Sky News reports this.

Production at the new enterprise should start in 2026.

Tata Motors said it plans to invest more than £4 billion, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the new factory will create thousands of skilled jobs for Britons across the country.

The deal is said to be the “result” of months of negotiations between the company and the British government.

It’s one of the largest investments in the UK automotive industry, according to Tata Group, and by 2030 the gigafactory will provide half of the needed battery production.

This is the company’s first gigafactory outside of India.

“The Tata Group’s billions of dollars investment in a new battery factory in the UK is a testament to the strength of our automotive industry and its skilled workforce,” said Prime Minister Sunak.

As reported by Ukrinform, GM Korea Co., the South Korean division of General Motors Co., has launched the updated Trailblazer compact SUV in South Korea.
