The city of Valinhos in the interior of Sao Paulo has just become home to the most recent International Post Office. The opening of this division, the fourth of its kind in the country, promises to revolutionize the logistics of international orders, significantly speeding up delivery times.

The new 44,000 m² facility is capable of processing up to 60,000 orders per day. Prior to this, Brazil had three international cargo handling centers located in the capitals of Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. With the addition of Valinhos, the workforce and structure for processing and issuing orders has increased significantly.

The strategic location of the new center, approximately 20 km from Viracopos Airport and with easy access to important state highways, is one of the main factors that will contribute to the flexibility of handling international shipments. This means that parcels do not have to travel long distances before they reach their final recipients.

The opening of the center in Valinhos is part of a larger project to decentralize orders. In addition, the opening of an Order Processing Center in Brasilia and the creation of an International Center in Rio Grande do Norte are planned for the coming months.

The post office is in the process of revitalization

Fabiano Silva dos Santos, President of Correios, said the opening of the new center is an important step towards accelerating the flow of goods to Brazilian homes. He also mentioned that the state-owned company is going through an evaluation process after several years of “write-off”.

In April, the federal government removed Correios from the list of privatization programs, marking a significant change in company policy. The current management is focused on expanding the state-owned company and is exploring the opening of new open tenders.

The cargo terminal at Viracopos International Airport in Campinas handled about 6,800 tons of international express shipments in 2022. With the new Correios division in Valinhos, parcels arriving at an airport in the region, as well as Guarulhos Airport, are expected to benefit from not having to leave the state before reaching their customers.
