However, Apple recently announced that this service is being discontinued. As of June 26, the photos are no longer automatically saved to the album, and the company has stated that it will permanently delete any remaining images on July 26. The good news is that there is still time to save those photos in another safe place.

According to Apple, the end of the album does not mean that the photos will be permanently lost, as they will remain on users’ devices. However, without cloud storage, these photos are not available on other devices and are more vulnerable to loss if the device is damaged or lost.

It’s important to note that if you’ve already paid for an iCloud+ plan with available space, you won’t be affected by this change. However, if you’re only using the free version of iCloud and often run out of space for photos, it’s important to follow the steps below to avoid potential loss.

How to save photos on iPhone or iPad:

1. Go to the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad and tap Albums at the bottom of the screen.
2. Look for photo albums like “WhatsApp” and “Instagram”. Go to the album called “My Photo Stream” and select all the photos you want to keep.
3. Then click “Share” and select “Save Image” to save the photos to your device.

That way, as long as you keep using the same iPhone or iPad, the photos will stay there.

How to save photos on Mac:

1. To save images directly to an Apple computer, the process is slightly different. Open the Photos app and then the My Photo Stream album.
2. Select all the photos you want to keep that are not in your library.
3. Finally, drag the photos from the album to your library.

By following these steps, you will be able to save your photos somewhere else safe before they are permanently removed from Apple’s My Photo Stream.
