China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed that the country has made impressive progress in the 5G telecommunications industry. With a staggering 676 million 5G smartphone users and nearly 3 million distributed 5G base stations, China is leading the way in the development of 5G technology.

Impressive statistics show China’s dominance in 5G technology

Compared to the previous year, sector revenues increased by 6.2% and total business volume increased by 17.1%. More than 2.12 billion Internet of Things (IoT) mobile devices are currently in use, indicating widespread adoption of mobile technology across industries.

The impact of 5G technology is being felt in sectors such as healthcare, education and transportation, with more than 50,000 use cases demonstrating its transformative potential. The “One Hundred Cities, One Thousand Parks” Industrial Internet Campaign has further contributed to China’s digital transformation, benefiting large numbers of businesses and fostering innovation through the creation of effective industrial Internet platforms.

Executives of major telecommunications companies underlined the role of next-generation technologies such as 5G, cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence in driving growth in the industry. They highlight the growing demand for intelligent digital transformation and the key role of artificial intelligence in initiating a new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation.

Liu Lihong, chairman of China Unicom, predicted that artificial intelligence will have a profound impact on 50% of jobs in the next two years, potentially signaling the start of another industrial revolution.

China’s significant progress in 5G technology, as well as its extensive integration into various industries, strengthens its position as a global telecommunications hub and exemplifies its commitment to technological progress.
