In the recall report, the company said that on model-year vehicles, the seat belts in the front seats were disconnected from the pre-tensioner mounts for repairs, but the seat belts may not have been reattached after the repairs were completed.
Tesla explained that faulty seat belts on the Model SI Model X may not deploy properly in a collision, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.
US traffic safety regulators are said to have launched an investigation into potential problems with Tesla’s seat belts in March.
As of June 19, the company has identified 12 warranty claims regarding the defective belt issue, but Tesla is not aware of any accidents, injuries or deaths that may be related to the problem.
Musk’s company said it would do a free inspection and, if necessary, attach both seat belts of the first seats to the pretensioners. If any malfunction is detected in the vehicle, it will be repaired free of charge.
As reported by Ukrinform, Tesla recalled 3,470 Model Y cars in March for failing to tighten securely the bolts securing the frames of the second-row backrests.
