Scientists reported that some animal species preyed on dinosaurs, and this was confirmed by a unique find from China’s Liaoning province.
More than 10 years ago, a farmer discovered a fossil from the time of the dinosaurs, in which the remains of two creatures – a dinosaur and a mammal – were preserved.
This unique example allowed scientists to study in detail the situation when the beast preyed on a dinosaur and was killed in the middle of the battle by a volcanic eruption.
The scientists published their results in a journal. Scientific Reports, mentions two types of these ancient creatures. The dinosaur belongs to the psittacosaurus (Psittacosaurus), small herbivorous dinosaurs, and the beast belongs to the repenomas, the largest mammals of the Lower Cretaceous period.
Until now it was believed that the mammals of that time were small and preying insects, but the discovery of repentance with the remains of psittacosaur cubs changed the perception of scientists.
