Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has announced that it will establish a new factory for the production of electric air taxis near Sao Paulo.
As reported by Ukrinform, the BBC reported it.
The plant will be built in the city of Taubate, about 140 km from São Paulo, the economic capital of Brazil.
The aerotaxi, which will be produced by Eve’s subsidiary, will resemble a small helicopter with enough room for six customers.
It is assumed that the trip will cost $ 50-100 per person.
Eve said they have already received about 3,000 air taxi orders. The company hopes to build a prototype air taxi this year. The first flights are scheduled for 2026.
An electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft does not need a runway, but can fly long distances like airplanes. Electric motors should reduce noise and pollution compared to standard airplanes.
As reported by Ukrinform, the British company Vertical Aerospace has announced the first flight of its VX4 electric aerotaxi with vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) without a pilot in the cockpit.
