Chrome 115 It’s the new version of Google’s browser for PC and the first of the Chromium (115) derivatives to see the light of day, although the update has been rolling out to many millions of users for a few days now and will take some time to complete, so if it hasn’t reached you yet or you don’t have access to everything we’re telling you about, give it some leeway.
Of course, what we are telling you about is the news of Chrome 115, a version that comes with a lot of things, although you may not notice it at first because there is a little bit of everything: what you can’t see, but it’s there, what you can’t see because it’s not there… The first group contains all the basic updates that come directly from Chromium, read the usual optimizations and security patches.
This release from Chromium, but exclusively in Chromium for now, extends the CHIPS feature included in Chromium 114, or what is the same, evolution cookies made in Google, though we’re still in the early stages of privacy. In any case, it is very likely that the first thing you will see as soon as you update Chrome is the presentation dialog «improved ad privacy with Chrome«.

The system really improves ad privacy a lot with Chrome, if you haven’t configured it yourself to refuse all tracking to improve the level of privacy, installed an extension in the same sense… Although maybe it’s worth using a different browser for all this. Be that as it may, this is just the beginning of Google’s plan to end advertising in Chrome.
But there are more innovations in Chrome 115, even if they fall under the radar. Give him some giving HTTPS connection priority by default, although you can go to their respective option and activate it. You have it in: Settings> Privacy and security> Security> Advanced settings> Always use secure connections ».
Another novelty, although this one is not in sight, is just that view of reading, a long-awaited feature that is finally making its way. You know, that feature that practically all browsers have had for years that allows you to read articles much more comfortably, highlight text and remove all distractions…
…But don’t get rid of the installed reading extension yet, because you have to activate the hidden option manually (chrome://flags/#read-anything) and it is not implemented in the traditional way, but in the sidebar of the browser. So after installation you have to go there to enjoy this feature (google leaves the original page open like this, with its ads and so on… logical?).

Finally, if you’re using Windows 11 and want to improve Chrome’s visual integration with the environment, there’s a second hidden option (chrome://flags/#windows11-mica-titlebar) that activates the Mica theme, modeled after Material Design but with attractive affinity in Windows 11 for colors that are used (reflections based on the colors of the wallpaper being worn). It’s not a radical change, but it’s noticeable and looks better.
On top of all that, when Chrome doesn’t enable these options by default, or at least doesn’t offer them in an accessible way in the current browser configuration, it’s usually because it doesn’t consider the feature to be finished or stable. Remember it. However, disabling these options is as simple as repeating the steps listed.
