ChatGPT is coming to Android next week

OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence firm led by CEO Sam Altman, recently announced the highly anticipated launch of ChatGPT for Android. The announcement comes months after the successful release of the iOS version, which quickly became the best AI app on the platform, with over half a million downloads in one week. The official version of ChatGPT for Android will be available on the Google Play store next week, pre-registration is already open.

Available next week: Android version of ChatGPT

The release of the official Android version is expected to help combat the rogue GPT apps flooding the market. Until now, these unofficial apps have been taking advantage of the Android ecosystem, some of which contain malicious or fraudulent content.

Like its iOS counterpart, the Android version of ChatGPT will likely have regional restrictions and will be released first in the United States and then in other countries. The app will offer a premium ChatGPT Plus service for $20 per month.

Android ChatGPT aims to provide an experience similar to its iOS equivalent, including the ability to sync conversations and settings between devices. While an exact launch date has not been announced, the company has confirmed that rollout will begin next week.

OpenAI is also working on a new feature called “personalized instructions” for Plus plan users, which is currently in beta testing. This feature will improve customization by allowing users to give specific instructions to the AI chatbot. The app also includes recent improvements to the iOS version, including Bing integration and an improved search history feature.

Android users can now pre-register for the ChatGPT app on the Google Play Store. Just last week, a report came in regarding the first drop in ChatGPT traffic since launch. Launching on the Android platform is likely to improve traffic again.
