YouTube Premium has increased its price in the United States. Service payment plan streaming The most popular video platform in the world is increasing its costs by a few dollars, which sooner rather than later and as you can imagine will be transferred to the rest of the markets where the platform operates, including Europe and therefore Spain.

The price of a YouTube Premium subscription thus rises from 11.99 to $13.99 per month ($18.99 if the subscription is made from the YouTube iOS app, which recoups the 30% commission that Apple charges on the App Store… and that Google also charges on Play Store apps, though that’s another story).

It should be kept in mind What is YouTube Premium?, a payment plan that includes viewing all of the platform’s content without ads, as well as using YouTube Music under the same conditions. Other benefits of the package include access to features such as background playback and downloading content for offline consumption from mobile apps, among others.

This offer applies to the individual YouTube Premium package, which also includes an annual plan, which now goes up to $139.99, as well as a family plan for up to five members, which already increased the price to $16.99 last year and now increases it to $22.99. It’s also worth noting that YouTube Music can be purchased separately for $9.99 per month, although it will now cost $10.99 per month.

Well, the price of YouTube Premium and its various plans are equivalent in Spain, exchanging dollars for euros and taking the annual plan out of the equation, which is not yet available here. Otherwise, YouTube Premium costs €11.99 per month in these parts, the family plan costs €17.99 per month and YouTube Music itself, 9.99 euros per month.

And, of course, all indications are that the rise will also be the same, if appropriate. If it is not higher, consider the price difference in the family plan. However, this is not a move exclusive to YouTube, but rather an industry-wide trend, especially when it comes to video-on-demand services, from Netflix to (HBO) Max, etc.

“We’re updating the pricing for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscribers in the US to continue to provide great service and features. We believe this new price reflects the value of YouTube Premium, which allows subscribers to enjoy YouTube ad-free with background and offline playback and seamless access to over 100 million songs with the YouTube Music app,” said a YouTube spokesperson.
