In the USA, the tests of the high-altitude drone PHASA-35, belonging to the British company BAE Systems, which rises to a height of 20 km in the stratosphere and spends 24 hours there, have been completed.
As reported by Ukrinform with reference to the Defense Post, the test was conducted at the White Sands missile range in New Mexico.
It is noted that the so-called satellite PHASA-35 unmanned aerial vehicle has a wingspan of 35 meters and can carry a payload of up to 15 kilograms.
It is equipped with solar panels, advanced composite materials, an energy management system and photovoltaic cells to provide continuous power.
The aircraft will perform airspace security, reconnaissance and airspace monitoring missions. By the way, thanks to its features, it can stay in flight mode continuously for up to a year.
In addition, it can be used to provide cellular coverage as well as other services such as disaster relief and border protection.
