Google has succeeded over the years making Google Photos one of the most used image storage servicespp. A large part of its success is undoubtedly due to the fact that for years the service offered unlimited storage if images were uploaded from Android and iOS apps, and that they were saved in a format that uses lossy compression, not full size and without performing these types of adjustments. Now, and this is common knowledge in tech companies, filling the first or one of the first positions is not a guarantee of the future. So, constant development is necessary, adapting to the context and needs of each moment, otherwise other companies willing to do so will quickly appear. This, of course, explains the fundamental reason why changes are most frequent in products and services with large numbers of users (either actual or potential).

As we can read in Android Police, now it’s the search engine’s image storage service’s turn, and that’s it Google Photos has started testing a new user interface for its Android and iOS apps. For this first evaluation, as we can read, a small deployment was done, which reached some users on both operating systems, according to PhoneArena. There are no links, yes, the criteria used by Google to select these user accounts.

The most striking aspect of this design evidence is that the bottom navigation bar disappears, that is, the one that displays the Photos, Search, Shared, and Library sections. Instead, you’ll see a floating bar with sections for Photos, Memories, and Library, and the search feature will appear as a new element, also floating, on the right. And if you are interested in sharing, it also opens its location in a new section.

The most interesting thing about the changes introduced in the Google Photos application is, and I’m sure you’ve already noticed it, yesIt represents an important break with respect to the current design of most of the company’s applications. So it’s possible that we’ll never see this design on our devices… of course, it’s also possible that the news is an advance on an important change in the usual design elements of Google apps.
