There are still many months to go before the first units of Apple Vision Pro, the revolutionary 3D viewer-computer presented by Apple at WWDC 2023, begin to reach the first points of sale. As we already told you when it was announced, Apple’s original plan is that this new device will initially only be sold in the United States, beginning of 2024with a jump to a few international markets (a small selection, maybe just two or three more) later that year.
However, since then, some aspects have emerged that will have a very direct impact on the said market arrival. On the one hand, and in Apple’s policy, which seems very correct to me, it seems so the company has designed a sales system that includes at least one pretest, in order to offer the user the most appropriate user experience. However, this will have a direct impact on the initial sales volume, as availability will be limited to a few physical stores that will build specific spaces for this purpose.
The worse news for society is that the manufacturing process of the Apple Vision Pro would run into problems aimed at substantially reducing the initial inventory of headsets available for an expected launch date that Apple has yet to announce. According to sources, there are differences in the estimated quantities, but the most optimistic prediction is that the debut could take place with 500,000 units available, but other estimates reduce this number to less than 300,000 units. A really low price for a long-awaited device.
But this is not the only problem, or more precisely, this problem can be the cause of another one that can affect the sales expectations of the device. And it is so, as we can read in the Wccfts, The low initial stock of Apple Vision Pro may discourage developers from creating/porting their apps for the viewer. So if Apple can’t fix these issues (and will, of course, communicate this publicly), the Apple Vision Pro risks debuting with significant flaws in its app store.
In this regard, as we can read in this publication, the high price of the Apple Vision Pro will also play a key role. Recall that once it goes on sale, the price of the spectator will start at $3,499, which, added to the low availability of the warehouse and especially its unavailability in most Apple Stores, may cause the volume of sales to tend to be low. Of course, on the other hand, we’re talking about Apple, so we shouldn’t rule out the possibility that we’re in for a huge sales success in the future.
