Ever since Elon Musk bought the microblogging platform Twitter, the social network has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Now the company is going through changes that many may not like.

Elon Musk has announced that Twitter will be removing its iconic blue bird logo and rebranding it as X. Instead of the current logo, the new logo will only have the letter “X”.

Additionally, it was discovered that the x.com URL would redirect users to Twitter. It’s perhaps the most dramatic change to the social media platform since Musk bought it last year.

This could be a step towards a long-considered super-app for the company called X by Elon Musk, which offers a wide range of services for users. Elon Musk said that buying Twitter last year “is an acceleration of X, everything.” Similarly, Twitter’s new CEO, Linda Jaccarino, said that “X will be a platform that can… deliver anything.”

With the big changes coming to the platform in a short time and Elon Musk trying to reorganize the platform according to his vision, the platform is facing several challenges. Recent major changes to the platform include layoffs of several senior executives and employees, removal of content moderation policies, access restrictions for regular users, and more.

That’s having an impact on business, as Musk himself admitted last week that Twitter’s ad revenue has dropped 50 percent. It’s not yet clear whether the company’s rebranding will help or hurt the business.
