The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope photographed spiral galaxy UGC 12295 in the constellation Pisces.
This was reported by the NASA observatory, Ukrinform reports.
This galaxy is located about 192 million light-years from our planet in the constellation Pisces.
Although UGC 12295 appears to be an “island of calm” in this image, this galaxy was the site of a disastrous supernova explosion that was first discovered in 2015.
It was this supernova that prompted two different groups of astronomers to propose Hubble observations of UGC 12295 that would document the debris of this massive stellar explosion.
The first team of astronomers used the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) to examine the remnants left behind by the supernova to better understand the evolution of matter in our universe.
An arc team of astronomers has also used WFC3 to study the effects of supernovae, but their research has focused on nearby supernovae.
As Ukrinform reports, the NASA/ESA Hubble space telescope photographed the false galaxy Arp 263 in the constellation Leo.
