Both companies plan to send vehicles to the moon within ten years.
Toyota is developing a manned lunar rover powered by hydrogen fuel cells and plans to send it to the moon in 2029.
Mitsubishi Heavy plans to launch an unmanned vehicle a few years ago – in 2025.
As part of the partnership, Toyota will provide Mitsubishi with its expertise in autonomous driving technologies, and Mitsubishi will in turn share data from early Moon launches.
It is noted that both companies participated in lunar exploration projects under the leadership of the Japanese space agency JAXA. The agency itself works under the auspices of NASA’s Artemis mission, which aims to land the first woman on the moon.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will launch a lunar landing module using the H2A launch vehicle in August.
