As you may already know, if you read me more or less often, I usually publish news about Minecraft 1.19 images, just as I did in the past with beta versions of previous versions of Mojang. And it is so that on some occasions they open the door for us to test the news in advance which arrives in each new version and also allows us to contribute feedback to the development of the game. Yippee win-winas they say now.
But there is another reason why the moments are interesting, and that is that if we analyze them chronologically, will lead us to the trace of the current state of development new versions, in this case Minecraft 1.19. As you probably remember, the first images of Minecraft 1.19 arrived full of news and advances, which allowed us to start testing what comes with The Wild Update: Warden, underground cities, mangroves, ally, frogs. .. lots of news concentrated in a few moments.
However, you may have noticed that we haven’t released any news about new moments in the last few weeks. And it’s not because they weren’t published. On the contrary, and in line with what we are used to at Mojang, we have new deliveries every week, new steps on the road to Minecraft 1.19. And why didn’t we publish reports on them? Because except for some more interesting details, such as the Ranger’s sonic attack, the news was limited to modifications to the existing one and to troubleshooting previous versions.

Is this bad news? Absolutely! On the contrary, we are facing quite a clear sign that the development of Minecraft 1.19 is already nicely honed. Elomars88, one of my favorite Minecraft content creators that I watch regularly, has released a video about the latest image, 22w19a or, as he would say, twenty-two, double vee, nineteen …A! , in which he reviews the news of the same and then comes to the same conclusion, which I also thought about for a few days, and I admit that I am glad that we agree on this point.
The conclusion is that in addition to surprises, we only have days or, in the worst case, a few weeks, for the arrival of version 1.19-pre1 of Minecraft 1.19. If you do not know the common workflow of Mojang, here are its five stages:
- experimental slide: Alpha version, potentially unstable, without optimization and with the deployment of innovations that anticipate important changes in the game. They are not released in all versions of Minecraft, although no less than seven have been released with Minecraft 1.18 and one has been released for Minecraft 1.19,
- snapshot: These are the most common beta versions. They usually also add news and fixes, but not significant changes in world generation (although biomes do). They are usually reasonably stable and better optimized than experimental ones, although this is not always the case.
- preliminary issue: At a specific moment, it is decided to end the addition of new functions and their modifications, and the existing ones are polished for the final version. They are no longer considered slides to take the name of the final version with the suffix pre and the version number. For example, the preliminary version we currently expect is 1.19-pre1.
- Release the candidate: When the team considers that everything is ready, the first version of the candidate is published, which will be final … but that does not mean that it is. This version (or the version because several RCs may occur before the final version) is analyzed with a magnifying glass to look for possible faults. The first candidate for release for Minecraft 1.19 will be 1.19-rc1.
- Final: When, after several months of work, it is judged that development is ready for publication, the latest release candidate is taken and adjusted to identify it as a new version of the game, in this case 1.19, which will be available to all users who want to upgrade to try to play it.

So, let’s go back to the specific case of Minecraft 1.19, what we’ve seen in its latest images are really minor changes that tell us that Mojang is already in the final polishing phase. Therefore, 22w19a is probably the last image of Minecraft 1.19, and therefore we are already quite close to the preliminary release of 1 game. Or maybe Mojang is ultimately saving, as a surprise, something related to the portal structure that is born in the cities of deep and dark caves. Something that would be great, but seems unlikely.
And, as you may have already deduced, this would mean that we are much closer to the release of Minecraft 1.19. It may take more or less weeks, depending on the hypothetical problems that may arise with pre-releases and release candidates, but the truth is that at the moment, the development of Minecraft 1.19 seems quite fine, so it does not indicate that either of these two phases will be immortalized.
A few months ago, when the pictures already showed us cities, Rangers and even elements of mangroves and an ally had already debuted in Minecraft Bedrock, I dared to predict that Minecraft 1.19 would arrive sometime in June. And from what I can see, it’s not just that this prediction can be perfectly fulfilled, it’s that it could even get ahead if everything goes well, and make its debut in May, even though it’s a very, very tight deadline. .
