RingCentral engineer Artem Volodin, one of those visa denials, explained that “the employer has decided to suspend operations in Russia and relocate most of our 600+ employees to Georgia, and about 30 will be resettled in Estonia.” According to him there are now 20 RingCentral employees in Estonia and they have all been rejected.

Estonian Minister of Business and Technology Andres Sutt supported KaPo’s decision, although he was not an expert in his field.

“Security is the most important thing, so we have sanctions specifically for citizens of Russia or Belarus. Therefore, from April 9, citizens of these two countries will not be issued new visas.”

According to a decree of the Estonian government, visas are not issued to Russians and Belarusians for ordinary or remote work, entrepreneurship, including for beginners. This also applies to residence permits and registration of short-term jobs.

“We will have no economic activity with Russia until the war in Ukraine is over,” said Sutt.

According to the Minister, the American RingCentral company is not the only Western company that wanted to export its employees from Russia to Estonia, but the same was applied to all of them. sanctions.
