Bing’s AI chatbot is no longer exclusive to Edge. Third-party mobile and web browsers are now allowed to request the hand of Microsoft’s Bing Chat.

Microsoft has long used Bing Chat to increase Edge’s market share. This strategy has partially worked, because while Microsoft boasts in a blog that its browser has grown for nine consecutive quarters, Edge has lost second place to Safari. Microsoft is now releasing its exclusive weapon for other browsers.

After testing the desktop versions of Chrome and Safari, Microsoft announces broader support for third-party browsers. Microsoft is also targeting mobile browsers. Soon you’ll be able to chat with Bing from your browser and device of choice. Microsoft emphasizes that Edge will – of course – continue to offer the best Bing experience.

It’s been six months since the launch of Bing Chat. According to Microsoft, the AI chatbot has already had more than a billion conversations and the image generator has already produced 750 million unique images. To celebrate, Microsoft is adding a dark mode to Bing Chat and the ability to do image and text searches simultaneously.

AI for everyone

Bing Chat Enterprise, a version with more extensive data protection functions that Microsoft wants to address to companies, is now knocking impatiently. Microsoft also confirms the upcoming launch of Windows Copilot, the AI assistant for the operating system, which may be available with the Windows 11 23H2 update. A launch date for these other Copilot applications for Microsoft 365 remains silent for the time being.
