The Tinker Board 3N is the latest addition to the ASUS line of single board computers. These SBCs have gained market share in recent years thanks to the Raspberry Pi’s momentum and have been a lot of fun for developers and hobbyists as they allow them to tackle all sorts of projects.

ASUS Tinker are one of the biggest alternatives to Raspberry Pi and the Taiwanese brand has had this range in their catalog for years. Recently, ASUS debuted the RISC-V platform with the Tinker V model, and now we have another one that is sure to be easier to handle thanks to greater compatibility.

ASUS Tinker Board 3N

The plate is supplied in a square design with dimensions included in 100x100mm. It is powered by a processor Rockchip RK3568 well known in the industry as it powers a large number of SBC boards and is widely supported. It features four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores with speeds up to 2 GHz, Mali-G52 graphics and a neural processing unit with up to 1 TOP AI performance.

The manufacturer sells it in configurations with 2, 4 or 8 GB Memory Dual-channel LPDDR4/LPDDR4X a storage space eMMC with a capacity of 32 or 64 GB. It also has support for 16 MB microSD and SPI flash cards.

As regards connectivity, includes an M.2 2230 module that provides wireless connectivity for Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth. Another M.2 3042/3052 connector is available, with which you can equip the board with support for LTE or 5G broadband networks, or choose to increase the internal storage capacity using SSD disks.

It has two LAN ports (with PoE support via an expansion module) and a large number of ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C OTG, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and 2 x USB 2.0. The audio part is covered by a 3.5 mm jack and a pin for stereo speakers. You can display content on screens with three outputs, HDMI, LVDS and eDP. The board is completed with various headers for COM and CAN buses, GPIO, fan, RTC battery and other hardware as well as an input DC power connector.

ASUS says the board will be available at a minimum “three different flavors”counting on it Tinker Board 3N, 3N Lite and 3N Plus, but the company has not yet announced the exact specifications or price of each model. A very complete board, officially compatible with Android 12 and Debian 11, although it will support other GNU/Linux distributions like other SBC models.
