Technology company Rubrik announced the acquisition of Laminar. This is an Israeli security company that specializes in data security in the cloud.

US cloud privacy and management company Rubrik acquires Laminar. The Israeli startup has been around for less than three years and specializes in data security in the (multi)cloud.

Notably, with this acquisition, Rubrik adds Laminar’s DSPM platform (Data security posture management) to his portfolio. The startup hails from Tel Aviv and thus also opens the doors to a brand new research and development center for cybersecurity in Israel. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

According to Rubrik CBO Mike Tornincasa, Laminar’s vision, technical expertise and operational capability are an ideal combination with Rubrik’s strategy and innovations. Amit Shaked, CEO of Laminar, even calls it synergies with a company that thinks the same when it comes to cybersecurity.

According to Rubrik, the combination creates a complete package for enterprise, cloud and SaaS cyber resilience. The company aims to achieve this by combining Laminar’s assets with its own cloud privacy and management expertise.

In addition, the company wants to optimize the security of both the endpoints and the networks. It also looks to the future, examining AI to prepare for more sophisticated cyberattacks in the future.

Rubrik has partnered with Microsoft for several years for a cloud archive service that protects against ransomware attacks, called Rubrik Cloud Vault. The tech giant has been investing in Rubrik for some time.
