Google has announced that its Gmail app for mobile now supports native email translation. This feature, which was previously available in the web version, is being implemented on both Android and iOS platforms. If emails in languages ​​other than the selected language are detected, a translation banner will appear at the top of the email.

How does it work?

If you receive an email in a language other than your default language, such as Korean, the “Translate to English” banner will allow you to instantly translate the content when your language is set to English. You can then view the original text or set Gmail to automatically translate that language in the future.

Users can turn off the translation header, although it will reappear for emails in other languages ​​unless you select the “never translate” option. [мова]» after rejection. To access the translation feature, users can use the three-dot menu at the bottom of the email if the header is not displayed. This ensures that the translation option remains available even if you choose not to translate in a particular language.

Availability and deployment schedule

Gmail’s native translation feature is now available on Android devices and is live now. For iOS users, this feature will be available from August 21, 2023. It will be available to all Google Workspace customers and people using their personal Google accounts.
