Nvidia announces new RTX workstation GPUs, packing 4 RTX 6000 chips into one monster unit

Four Nvidia RTX 6000 GPUs in one PC are said to boost content and AI workloads. At the same time, Nvidia also announced the new workstation GPUs RTX 5000, 4500 and 4000.

Anyone wanting more horsepower in their workstation will soon be able to indulge their cravings on the latest quad-GPU machine Nvidia has built. Inside we find four brand new RTX 6000 cards, the most powerful models in the desktop segment. Each card has 48GB of VRAM, meaning a workstation now has 192GB of GPU memory and 5,828 TFLOPS of AI performance. And all in a desktop form factor.

Nvidia will not release these machines itself. It works with manufacturers like Dell, HP, and Lenovo. The first machines are scheduled to hit the market later this year. The desktop is configurable with Nvidia AI Enterprise or other Omniverse tools to give developers plenty of options.

New Nvidia RTX cards

The Nvidia RTX 6000 has been available since earlier this year, but the rest of the line-up wasn’t available yet. Until now, because the chipmaker announces three new workstation GPUs:

Map VRAM CUDA cores FP32 TFLOPS Price
RTX 6000 48GB 6.144 91.06 $6,800
RTX 5000 32GB 7,680 65.30 $4,000
RTX 4500 24GB 12,800 39.60 $2,250
RTX 4000 20GB 18,176 26.70 $1,250
Nvidia RTX 5000

The Nvidia RTX 5000 is a light version of the RTX 6000 with the same AD102 architecture (same as the GeForce RTX 4090) but fewer CUDA cores and less memory. According to the manufacturer, the card achieves 65.3 FP32 TFLOPS, which is significantly lower than the 91.06 FP32 TFLOPS that the RTX 6000 can deliver. The price is also significantly lower. An Nvidia RTX 5000 costs $4,000 on average, compared to $6,800 for the RTX 6000. The card is available immediately.

Nvidia RTX 4500

Among them is the Nvidia RTX 4500, which is based on the AD104 GPU, similar to a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. The card has 24 GB of VRAM on board and 7,680 CUDA cores, which offers a processing power of 39.6 FP32 TFLOPS. The Nvidia RTX 4500 will be available in October and will cost $2,250.

Nvidia RTX 4000

Finally, there’s the Nvidia RTX 4000, which is a derivative of the SFF version that launched earlier this year. The chip has the same AD104 GPU as its slightly larger brother, but gets fewer CUDA cores and memory and therefore delivers “only” 26.7 FP32 TFLOPS. The Nvidia RTX 4000 will be available in September and has a suggested retail price of $1,250.
