Telegram now discloses users’ IP addresses at the request of the court

Telegram has updated its terms of use and privacy policy for the Brazilian region – there is a clause that prohibits child abuse and participation in illegal activities related to terrorism. Under the new rules, the service will disclose IP data to authorities “if Telegram receives a court order from a democracy like Brazil about the use of the public Telegram platform for actions prohibited by the Terms of Use.” This was reported by the profile portal Telegram Info.

It will be remembered that in March the messenger was on the verge of a blockade in Brazil – on the 18th, the Supreme Court decided to ban access to Telegram, but in connection with the subsequent appeal and apology of Pavel Durov, the authorities canceled the decision. Then the author of the service wrote that the developers did not refuse to comply with the requirements of the Brazilian government. On the contrary, they fulfilled their obligations, but after the report was sent, it may disappear, and other letters from the authorities with additional requests were sent to the old email address, so the messenger team did not see them.
