Oracle envisions an entry-level configuration for its Cloud@Customer solution. Customers can now bring Oracle Cloud into their own data center with a single rack.

Oracle introduces a cloud system for on-premises deployment that fits in a single rack. The new solution fits into the Cloud@Customer offering. Under this motto, Oracle extends its own cloud to the on-premise environment of the customers.

Coud@Customer is aimed at large enterprises and includes a private cloud region with 12 to 50 racks. The functionality of the on-premises servers is identical to that in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), with the difference that customers retain local control over their data.

Construction

The new system is somewhat entry-level and fits in a single 42U rack. Depending on the configuration, it weighs between 559 kg and 796 kg, with a power consumption of 6,500 watts up to 20,988 watts for very heavy configurations.

You can fill the server rack with AMD Epyc processors, which is at least 552 cores per rack. Storage starts at 150 TB. If you want to get the most out of your rack, you can opt for 6,000+ Epyc cores and 3.4PB of memory.

payment model

Oracle offers all Cloud@Customer solutions under a pay-as-you-go type of cloud formula, although companies must sign up for a minimum of 48 months. During this time it is possible to adjust the configuration of the rack.

The cloud provider also prides itself on the fact that its rack system is more powerful and comprehensive than AWS or Microsoft Azure alternatives. In addition, Oracle supports block, file, and object storage.
