If you already assumed when reading the Corsair K70 MAX that we are facing a new example of Corsair innovation, you are right, but even in this case we are talking about progress, which is a very important difference, completely redefines the concept of keyboard customization. And yes, I’m fully aware that putting it this way might sound like I’m writing more of a blurb than a message, but you can trust me that I’m not exaggerating one bit, because what the company has done with this keyboard feels revolutionary to me.

And what is the innovation? Well, we are talking about a keyboard equipped with magnetic-mechanical switches that, thanks to this technology and in conjunction with the iCue software, allows the user to set the trigger point using software and also configure two actions for the same key. That way, instead of having to find a keyboard whose switches will adjust to our preferences, we can customize the keyboard to respond to the millimeter (actually even more accurately, as I’ll explain later) the way we want it to respond to our pulsations.

The keys of the Corsair K70 MAX therefore have a fixed track, but through the iCUE configuration software we can choose a specific point within it where we want to register the keystroke. for this purpose it is possible to set the activation point between 0.4 mm and 3.6 mm, in steps of 0.1 mm. So we will be able to try different points until we find the one that best suits our preferences, with the added value of being able to use different action points depending on the use we are always going to give it.

The software pulsation control of each key also gives the Corsair K70 MAX another sensational feature, which is that it allows you to assign two different functions to the same key, causing the former to be activated by a short press, while the latter will be completed by a deeper press. This can be useful both for assigning two common functions to a key with particularly quick access based on the position of our hands, and for significantly facilitating combinations that usually require pressing two keys in succession.

And we will find another novelty that is based on the CORSAIR MGX switch technology. It is about Rapid Trigger mode, which provides what the company calls hyper responsive on the key, causing the key to reset immediately when moving up, giving the K70 MAX an advantage over traditional mechanical repress keyboards. This feature isn’t available yet, but a firmware update will be released soon to enable it, along with an iCUE update that will improve the customization features a bit further.

In the rest, we find a new member of the Corsair K70 family, which has already proven its merits in several models and their generations. It has an aluminum construction and a double layer of sound dampening, and voting rate 8,000 hertz and a set of technologies that have made the keyboards of this manufacturer a reference for a long time.
