With Perimeter 81, Check Point acquires a Security Service Edge (SSE) company with 3,000 customers worldwide and 200 employees.
The goal of acquiring Perimeter 81 is to bring a faster and more secure SSE solution to market. With this it aims to accelerate the adoption of secure access for remote users, locations, cloud, data centers and the Internet. Check Point is acquiring Perimeter 81 for approximately $490 million on a cash and debt free basis.
Founded in 2018 with a team of more than 200 employees, Perimeter 81 serves more than 3,000 customers worldwide. The company offers a range of features including zero trust access and full mesh connectivity between users, branches and applications. According to Check Point, the SSE solution can be implemented quickly: an hour is enough.
Check Point plans to take the capabilities of Perimeter 81 and integrate them into the Check Point Infinity architecture. The ultimate goal is to provide a unified security solution for the network, the cloud, and remote users.
“With the advent of hybrid work and increasing cloud transformation, there is increasing demand for security services that extend beyond the network perimeter,” said Gil Shwed, CEO of Check Point. “By leveraging the capabilities of Perimeter 81 and integrating them into the Check Point Infinity platform, we continue our vision of providing the best security through comprehensive, collaborative and consolidated solutions.”
