In a relatively short time, Android aims to add two really interesting features to the Apple ecosystem. And before I continue, I continue with disclaimer the usual, clarifying that it feels like something very positive to me, as well as when this type of movement occurs in the opposite direction. Improvements to operating systems ultimately translates into a better user experience for its users, which is ultimately the most important thing, right?

The first of them, which we have been reporting on since the end of last year, is Nearby Sharing, something the search engine was working on until its official launch, just three weeks ago. This handy tool reproduces how AirDrop works, a feature that makes sharing files between devices as easy as possible. While AirDrop works between Apple devices, Nearby Sharing works between Android and Windows devices.

Now that the nearby deployment is complete, Google has already started working on implementing another feature that we commonly associate with Apple, although, to be fair, we have to admit that the first steps in this regard were taken by Microsoft at a time when it was still competing for a position in a highly desirable but also extremely competitive market. for smartphones and operating systems for them.

Google is preparing a Continuity feature for Android

I’m talking, you’ve probably already guessed, about Apple’s Continuity feature. And it is as we can read in Android Police, Google is already working on bringing the Continuity feature to Android. And in case you were wondering, when I mentioned that Microsoft has taken some steps in this direction, albeit with a different approach, I’m referring to the ill-fated Continuum technology that eventually disappeared along with Microsoft’s smartphone operating system.

As we can read, This feature allows you to create a link between Android devices that are associated with the same account from Google, a link that will allow smartphones and tablets to “share” tasks and features. At the moment, the possibility of undisturbed switching of active phone calls from one device to another is mentioned, as well as the possibility of sharing the Internet connection, we understand this in an even faster and more direct way than with the already available means.

This is most likely just the beginning and it is not even known when the debut will be. It seems a bit rushed with the release of Android 14although it might be incorporated in its update that will be released later.
