Witnesses in case that could lead to Trump’s fourth indictment called to testify

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis called this Saturday to testify next week before a grand jury. several witnesses to alleged attempt to invalidate elections in Georgiaa case that could be the fourth indictment of former President Donald Trump (2017-2021).

Former Lieutenant Governor of Georgia Jeff Duncan revealed via a social media post that he was called as a potential witness and will testify behind closed doors before a grand jury on Tuesday.

“I can confirm that I was asked to testify before a Fulton County grand jury on Tuesday. I look forward to answering your questions about the 2020 elections. Republicans should never allow honesty to be mistaken for weakness,” the Republican said.

Duncan has been a longtime Trump supporter. but after the 2020 election, she publicly broke up with him.

“I just got a call from District Attorney Fanny Willis’s office. I was asked to appear in court on Tuesday to testify before a grand jury,” the social network, renamed X, said via Twitter.

These summonses are the first official confirmation that the prosecutor investigating the case acts to bring charges and presumably indict Trump, more than two years after the start of the investigation.

According to media leaks about the investigation of the case, the origin of this investigation was Call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffenspergerin which the former president allegedly asked him to “get” the votes needed to annul the victory of current President Joe Biden in that state.

After the news broke today, Trump made reference to that call: “How can I be accused in Georgia? The phone call was PERFECT. WITCH-HUNT!” said the former president, who remains convinced of the political persecution against him.

This could be the fourth criminal charge brought against the former president. Last week, a grand jury in Washington charged him with four charges of allegedly trying to change the results of the 2020 U.S. election, culminating in the January 6, 2021 attack on the country’s Capitol.

Also in New York Trump indicted on 34 counts for falsifying business documents in order to pay porn actress Stormy Daniels, with whom he had an affair in the past, for her silence during the 2016 election campaign.

And another criminal case is in Florida, where he is accused of 40 charges for illegal seizure and possession in his mansion in Mar-a-Lago secret documents which he carried out of the White House.

trump, first felony-charged former president in U.S. historyfaces these processes in the midst of the race for the White House in 2024, as the favorite of the Republican candidate.
