The development of GeForce RTX 50 has been a reality for a long time, although its presentation will take place only in mid to late next year. Before its announcement, the “refresh” GeForce RTX 40 will arrive, an intergenerational renewal, with which NVIDIA should, to a greater or lesser extent, follow up on the steps it took with the GeForce RTX 30 at the time.

Although the official announcement is still a long way off, the trickle of rumors and leaks about the GeForce RTX 50 leaves us with some interesting information, and today we have some new information to share with you. According to Chinese sources, NVIDIA will use the total five different graphics cores shape this new generation of graphics cards and will be divided as follows:

• NVIDIA GB202: top of the line, it will be used in GeForce RTX 5090 and possibly GeForce RTX 5090 Ti and GeForce RTX 5080 Ti.
• NVIDIA GB203: This will be a high-end chip that will be used in GeForce RTX 5080, GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and GeForce RTX 5070.
• NVIDIA GB205: This will be the mid-range chip that will power the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and GeForce RTX 5060.
• NVIDIA GB206: GeForce RTX 5050 Ti and GeForce RTX 5050 will be produced with this chip.
• NVIDIA GB207: this GPU will be used to make lower entry-level graphics cards and possibly some low-power solutions for laptops.

If you’ve been paying attention, you may have noticed that we skipped the NVIDIA GB204 GPU. This has an explanation and it is theoretically the GeForce RTX 50 series will not use the specified graphics engine. This is something very curious that is not confirmed, so we have to take this information with a grain of salt, especially considering the importance that NVIDIA’s X04 series cores have historically had.

It is possible that for this new generation of graphics the GB203 chip makes more sense for NVIDIA and the green giant decided that no need to resort to GB204. It’s not hard to understand, think that the green giant could use the GB203 chips with the highest success rate on the wafer to make the GeForce RTX 5080 and use those chips that come with fewer SM functional units to shape the lower models.
