The German automobile concern Mercedes-Benz has completely separated its Russian dealers from its software.
This was reported by the Oops Top portal, as reported by Ukrinform.
They also have limited access to online systems used for vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
It is noted that the lack of official software can increase the repair and maintenance times of cars, as well as cause problems in updates for new cars.
According to the automobile concern, access to online systems for car maintenance has been suspended.
The company “Mercedes Benz RUS” stated that the maintenance and repair of cars will be carried out on the basis of “accumulated experience and knowledge”.
“Dealers have been disconnected from the manufacturer’s online software systems. In some cases, the lack of access to online systems will result in longer repair times.”
The Association of “Russian Car Dealers” said that official dealers have problems with the software of most foreign brands. The main problem is increased repair times.
“This applies not only to Mercedes Benz, but also to BMW. Software and hardware from third-party developers sold on trading platforms helps to circumvent restrictions. But actually the term “official dealer” is losing its meaning now,” he said.
At the end of November 2022, Mercedes-Benz announced its withdrawal from the Russian market and announced plans to sell its assets in the country to Avtodom. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. “Avtodom” reported that as part of the deal, Mercedes has received an option to buy the Russian business at market price.
