The Indian Space Research and Development Organization (ISRO) has announced the launch of Aditya-L1, the first mission to study the Sun.

This was reported on ISRO’s social media page. 𝕏 (formerly “Twitter”) reports Ukrinform.

According to the organization, the mission will be launched on an ISRO PSLV rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Center SHAR (SDSC SHAR) in Sriharikota.

“Aditya-L1, India’s first space-based observatory to study the Sun, is preparing for launch. SatelliteBuilt at the UR Rao Satellite Center (URSC) in Bengaluru, SDSC-SHAR has arrived in Sriharikota, ISRO said in a statement.

It is noted that the spacecraft will be launched into a halo orbit in the Lagrangian point 1 (L1) region of the Sun-Earth system, which is approximately 1.5 million km from Earth.

The spacecraft will carry seven payloads to observe the photosphere, chromosphere and outer layers (corona) of the Sun using various detectors.

ISRO said in a statement that the satellite placed in a halo orbit around the L1 point has the advantage of continuously observing the Sun without any eclipse/dimming. This would provide the greater advantage of observing solar activity and its effects on space weather in real time.

This will be the first mission of this kind for India.

As he reported UkrinformThe Indian Space Agency (ISRO) has released the first images of the Moon taken by the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, which entered lunar orbit in early August.
