The death toll has risen to 25, including three children, the Dagestan Disaster Medicine Center told the Russian news agency Interfax.
“Now there are 66 victims in the medical facilities of Makhachkala, ten of them are in serious condition,” said Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Viktor Fisenko.
According to authorities, the fire started in a car repair shop in Makhachkala, the capital of the Dagestan region, and resulted in an explosion that spread to a nearby gas station.
According to the local emergency service, the fire occurred in an area of 500 square meters.
