Microblogging service Twitter is testing a new “Like author” tag that will appear when the thread’s author “likes” one of the comments. TechCrunch resource spotted a new feature in the next update of the Twitter for Android app.
A spokesperson for the social network confirmed that the company is testing various tweets to help users understand what content is being viewed. However, a Twitter representative declined to comment further. Currently, the new feature works very simply: when the author of the topic “likes” one of the comments, a corresponding icon appears below the comment, which is visible to the author of the comment and the rest of the discussion. The geography where the new feature is being tested is also not officially stated, but news of it being noticed in the app comes from several countries.
A Twitter post is similar to a similar “Like Author” icon on TikTok – it appears when a video creator “likes” a comment. On the one hand, innovations can cause Twitter posts to be overloaded with service information. On the other hand, community members may be happy to receive such a tag when a celebrity likes it. This feature can be useful when the author of a long thread wants to highlight some comments without replying to them. However, it is unlikely that the new feature will be available to everyone in the near future. Source
