Great news for LG OLED monitor owners and buyers of OLED monitors! LG has announced that its standard two-year monitor warranty will now also cover any burns that occur due to normal use or that may occur in the future.
According to LG’s statement, everyday use such as desktop applications and games falls within the scope of “normal” use. Warranty period provided if a scenario occurs where the burning becomes persistent, such as the Windows taskbar, application icon, or in-game HUD elements, and regular automatic cleaning or maintenance methods no longer fix the problem.
LG previously had a policy to exclude burn-in on OLED monitors, but the company has now reversed that decision. The brand currently covers OLED burning in the US and EU regions. However, this policy change does not apply to OLED TVs.
This policy change will likely encourage more gamers to opt for OLED gaming monitors over IPS or VA panels. As we know, OLED displays are better than IPS and VA displays in many important respects. An interesting thing is that OLED screens can show really deep blacks and very vibrant colors because they can turn off every single pixel. This makes them look much better than IPS or VA displays without this feature. Also, OLED screens look good even when viewed from the side. So, if you’re watching with friends or family, the picture still looks great. OLED displays are great for games and applications where fluid movement is important, as they have fast response times. In addition, they have a wider color gamut than IPS or VA displays, making visual content more dynamic and realistic.
