Dozens of generative AI applications in the Google pipeline

At least 21 new AI applications are said to be in development at Google DeepMind.

According to a NY Times report, Google DeepMind is working on several dozen new AI applications. These apps would even include an AI feature that would, yes, give life advice.

Teamwork makes the AI work

Earlier this year, Google merged its two main AI research organizations. Google Brain and DeepMind should work well together (which they do) especially on the ambitious Gemini project, but that’s not the only thing.

In total, the extended team would process no fewer than 21 applications. The Times was able to see a reference to the Life Advice feature, showing that the system can handle complex questions spanning multiple lines of text. However, according to the Times, Google’s own engineers have already raised concerns about the potential impact of this application on users. So there is a possibility that this function will not start. Incidentally, there is no absolute certainty about this in any of the projects.

These twenty other AI applications include a tutoring feature and an application that helps users prepare documents for specific schedules (think budgeting). DeepMind is also said to be working on an idea generation feature, which sounds pretty creative and vague at the same time.

scaled

To support this extensive research, Google has partnered with Scale AI Inc., particularly in terms of development. The start-up sells tools that allow other companies to create creative datasets for education and integrate LLM models into their software.

Scale AI would have even put together multiple teams to provide Google with the help it needed. In total, more than 100 experts, all with PhDs, would be employed in Google’s AI projects.

Google is not limited to these initiatives when it comes to AI; The tech giant recently launched Project IDX, a new artificial intelligence developer platform. Additionally, as of earlier this month, Google Assistant also has generative AI.
