Starting today, WhatsApp adds a long-desired function of its users: send high-quality pictures No comments

It’s no secret that WhatsApp, like many other apps, corrupts images. Although we have been able to automatically configure the sending quality for a long time, best quality or data saving, even the most ambitious option does not allow us to get rid of compression. And of course, this can be a problem when the cameras of our mobile phones can exceed 100 megapixels and even take photos with a high level of detail.

Thus, we learned that WhatsApp is not the best alternative for sending high-quality images, unless we are willing to use certain tricks. This is starting to change. After months of beta testing, the app developed by Meta is finally rolling out a feature that lets you upload the quality of individual photos before posting them. While there is still some compression, we should get better results.

How to send high quality images on WhatsApp?

The news comes directly to us from Mark Zuckerberg. As we see the video, we can now touch the “HD” icon before sending an image. This will open a setting that will allow us to choose between two alternatives: standard quality or new HD quality. In the example shared by the businessman, selecting the first option sends the image at 1365 x 2048 pixels and the second option at 2000 x 3000 pixels; this is a significant jump in resolution accompanied by less compression.

As we can see, the standard quality option is still the default. This is because WhatsApp wants image sharing to remain fast and effective in conditions where mobile connectivity may change. In any case, if we send a high-quality image, everyone in the chat will know that we chose this option because it will be accompanied by the “HD” tag. And like other messages, they will be protected by end-to-end encryption.

The launch of this new product has just begun, but it may not be immediately available on your phone. The company says it will hit the world “in the coming weeks.” A good alternative if you want to buy as soon as possible, updated app Via Google Play or Play Store. It should also be noted that if you are an enthusiast and not afraid to try development builds, the feature is already available in beta versions 23.11.0.76 for iOS and 2.23.12.13 for Android.
